The camera sensor (visual or infrared) provides 25 frames per second of video data. Video Based Surveillance make use of these data to detect objects in every frame. The complexity in this task is not only the high amount of data that need to be analysed in a very short period of time, but also to filter objects of interest out of all detected movements. The result of this analyses will be made available as an Independent Non Cooperative Surveillance input source to a multi sensor data fusion.
This technology has the potential to play a significant role in multi remote tower environment but also as Gap Filler for big airports.
