AOM-0606 — Enhanced Parallel Approach Operations using PBN/RNP transitions to xLS

Independent Parallel Approach operations are enhanced through the application of PBN/RNP navigation specifications with a transition to xLS final approach segments. This is expected to operate in high/medium/low complexity/density environments.

Rationale
The use of PBN/RNP transitions to xLS in parallel approach operations will provide alternative options for implementation of Independent Parallel Approaches (IPA), and will offer potential improvements in safety, cost effectiveness, capacity and environmental impact. In high density environments, dedicated procedures in the initial approach will guarantee an effective use of PBN under high traffic peaks. In medium/low environments, flight efficiency and environmental benefits may be easier to maximise.
